Guillermo Francisco Urianhai (born 1957, Villa Federación, DB) is the current mayor of the Ardispherian city of Ciudad Quiroga in the federal subject Departamento del Sur. First elected in 2008 and now in his 3rd term, Urianhai was originally a racecar driver, winning some championships in the 1970s and 1980s in both Premier Formula and Ardescar (Formula Plus) formats. After a brief effort to become a cinema star in the late 1980s, he moved to Ciudad Quiroga to become administrator for the Ardescar racing association, which has its headquarters in nearby Cartagén, DS. Always somewhat outspoken as a member of the Partido Federal, several community leaders urged him to enter politics and his first victory, although fraught with unkind evaluations of his financial dealings with Ardescar, came with his election to the Comuna Quiroga legislature in 2000. He ran for mayor in 2003 and then won the second time he ran, in 2008. He has been notable for his efforts to "internationalize" the city, and recently lured several international companies to set up shop in the city.
Urianhai owns an extensive collection of classic cars and racing cars, and still dabbles in racing. He can often be seen doing laps during practice runs and time trials at the Autódromo Cartagén on weekends.
