Lagartópolis (derived from Castellanese Lagarto "alligator" + polis "city"; in Bofobundan it is called تَمسا temisa "alligator"; Lonica Quebin) is a city in the Ardispherian federal subject of Departamento de Páramos. It is the second largest city in the Departamento, and the seat of the Comuna La Xurre. It is an important agricultural and river-transport center at the original head of navigation of the Río Lagarto (although navigation now continues to the Lago Trece Templos). It is also the most important center of the Bofofundan-Ardispherian immigrant community, and location of the famed Green Mosque.

Lagartópolis's current population is about 102,000 inhabitants, in a land area of tbd km².

Geography

Lagartópolis is located at the original head of navigation on the Lagarto River, where it is joined by the eastward-flowing Río Sultanas, and at the northwest end of the Lago Ancho, which is more of a swamp than a lake, but which abounds in the alligators from which the river and city derive their names.
